Crowns
A dental crown is a small, tooth shaped cap that is placed over a damaged or weakened tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns fully encase the visible portion of the tooth above the gumline and are commonly used after procedures like root canals, to support large fillings, or to protect cracked or worn teeth. They can be made from various materials. We use ceramic as a material due to its superior qualities and natural tooth-like appearance.
To create high quality veneers in one visit CEREC technology uses computer-assisted design (CAD) to create custom crowns in one visit.
Benefits of CEREC technology:
-
No unpleasant impression material
-
No bothersome temporary prothesis
-
No follow up appointment
-
Long-term stability
-
Due to the translucency of ceramics, the CEREC crowns look like a real tooth
Crowns can also be placed on dental implants to replace missing teeth.
Before and After

This tooth was fractured, decayed and begging for a crown. It was also the only remaining gray tooth in our patient’s mouth. She was excited about her new matching white tooth, especially after seeing the cracks in the original photo (look closely).

Designing a custom crown for a patient using our CAD-CAM technology. This image of the patient's mouth was taken using our state-of-the-art 3-D digital camera.
Same-day crowns are more convenient for our patients and actually tend to fit BETTER than the ones made at the lab - and no temporary crown needed! We can also custom paint them if your tooth is multi-colored (most teeth are)! Custom painting is our favorite part! (Did you know Dr. Richmond is also an artist?) She loves using her artistic skills to make smiles beautiful! 🎨 🖌
