Most dental insurance benefits reset January 1 - schedule your care now, so you don't lose what you've already paid for.

Did you know most dental insurance benefits reset on January 1? If you don’t use the coverage you’ve already paid for this year, those dollars are gone for good. At Family Dentistry at City Park, we want to help you make the most of your benefits before they expire.

Why Benefits Don’t Roll Over

Most dental insurance plans come with an annual maximum — a set amount the plan will pay for your care each year. For most plans, that amount resets on January 1, unused benefits do not carry over into the next year. In other words: use it or lose it.

What This Means for You

If you’ve been putting off dental treatment, now’s the time to schedule:

  • Cleanings and check-ups

  • Fillings, crowns, or other restorative care

  • Preventive treatments that support long-term health

By taking care of these before December 31, you’ll maximize the coverage you’re already paying for.

Don’t Forget About Your HSA/FSA

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), those funds may also expire at year’s end. They can often be used toward dental treatment — another reason not to wait.
